Dropkick Murphys are a celtic punk band formed in Quincy, Massachusetts, USA. First playing together in the basement of a friend's barbershop, they blended Oi!, Irish music, and hardcore. Their influences include such outfits as Stiff Little Fingers, The Pogues, AC/DC, The Clash and the Swinging Utters. Their name was taken from a rehab center.
The band has made a name for itself and built a following by their non stop touring all over the world and their famous St. Patrick's Day weekend shows, which are held in Boston. The Dropkick Murphys also support the Unions of any trade, and many of their songs are about the rising and strength of brotherhood and solidarity within the Unions.

Industrial Revolution

Many modern inventions were developed during the industrial revolution. Edward Jenner created one vaccine for smallpox and saved many lives. Before the smallpox vaccine there was no hope for those with smallpox. The more hazardous inoculation had been practiced throughout the latter half of the 17th century by physicians in India, China, Turkey, Persia, and Africa. Electricity enables greater production, transportation and communication. The electric light, prior to Edison, was nothing usually more than an arc, jumping between two carbon rods. The brilliant light from a pair of rods equaled, if not excelled, that provided by its nearest rival, the gas lamp. These two inventions contributed to a better standard of living for everyone in he community than and now. The inventions of this period played a major role in the progress of society.
