Counter-Strike, commonly abbreviated to CS, is a tactical first-person shooter video game which originated from a Half-Life mod of the same developers, Minh "Gooseman" Le and Jess "Cliffe" Cliffe, featuring real-world weapons and shootouts. The game has been expanded into a series since its original release, which currently includes Counter-Strike: Condition Zero, Counter-Strike: Source and Counter Strike on Xbox.
Counter-Strike puts a team of counter-terrorists against a team of terrorists in rounds of competition won by completing an objective or eliminating the opposing force. The latest incarnation of the game, Counter-Strike: Source, is based on the Source engine developed for Half-Life 2. Signs of Counter-Strike's wide influence can be found in mods for games such as Quake III Arena, Unreal Tournament, and other standalone shooters such as Global Operations, America's Army, Call of Duty,True Combat Elite and many more.
As of May 2006, Counter-Strike is still the most widely played online first-person shooter in the world. In 2002 there were over 30,000 populated Counter-Strike servers on the Internet (second place was Unreal Tournament with about 9,800). In 2004, GameSpy statistics showed over 85,000 players simultaneously playing Counter-Strike at any point in time, and in 2006, Steam regularly shows over 200,000 players for Counter-Strike[1] (this includes Counter-Strike: Source, Counter-Strike: Condition Zero and Counter-Strike). According to statistics gathered by Valve's content-delivery platform, Steam, these players collectively contribute to over 6.177 billion minutes of playing time each month, as in February 5, 2007[1] solidifying its position as the most popular online first-person shooter in history. Counter-Strike was originally played online through the WON gaming service, which was shut down in 2004,[2] forcing players to switch to Steam (to which a section of players responded by creating their own WON network, dubbed WON2).

Tests

To look at a typical newsstand, pakistan's press appears vibrant and diverse. there are more than 100 national newspapers -- several dozen in English -- and judging by the oft fiery editirial pages, columnists and journalists are free from shackles. Compare this to other Muslim nations where journalists are routinely jailed, or worse, for the slightest against the ruling institution. Egypt. Morocco.

But according to local blogger mohammad khan, "it's one of the biggest hoaxes there is -- the belief that the (Pakistani) press is free."

Indeed. Reporters without border ranks pakistan 157th out of 168 countries in terms of press restrictions. the pakistan press foundation reported that 33 jounalists were recently "detained" for protesting police action again a broadcaster in islambad.

so far, bloggers like khan have managed to fly below the government's radar, but the internet is coming quickly to this nation that borders not just india, but also china, afghanistan and iran. a growing middle class already has DSL at home. internet cafes, thoughts still limited, offer decent connection for just 20 rupees (33 cent) an hour.

Teletubbies are the best show of the ancian world, Teletubbies is a BBC children's television series, particularly aimed at babies and preschool children, produced from 1997 to 2001 by Ragdoll Productions. It was created by Anne Wood CBE, Ragdoll's creative director, and Andrew Davenport, who wrote each of the show's 365 episodes. Narrated by Tim Whitnall, the programme was a rapid critical and commercial success in Britain and abroad, particularly notable for its high production values; it won a BAFTA in 1998.
Although the show is aimed at children between the ages of one and four, it has been a substantial cult hit with older generations, particularly university students[citation needed]. "Teletubbies Say Eh-Oh!", a single based on the show's theme song, reached number 1 in the UK Singles Chart in December 1997 and remained in the Top 75 for 32 weeks, selling over a million copies.
In 2007 the show is celebrating its tenth anniversary with a new illustrated art style and website.
